NEW BLOG!

Okay, so I have no idea why I feel the need to periodically start new blogs. Actually, that is a lie. I totally know why. I do it in the hopes that one of these times, just one, I will get better at blogging regularly. I can hear the snickering.

But seriously, I find it very difficult to put little bits of myself out on the internet. It's like taping posters for a show up on light posts. It's great, and people will come and read and enjoy themselves, but the bits that stay there are forgotten and battered by the elements and covered with new posters . . .

Maybe my metaphor makes little sense, but I am tired and willing to leave it there.

Oh, and I have a new blog and myspace, since, in Lyn's words, I am finally "coming out of the bathroom" as a singer/songwriter:

It's always catching up to me . . .

This video, which was shown at our staff retreat last week, articulated a large chunk of my life philosophy. The website it came from is fabulous, in general, as well. It is about 20 minutes long, so make a little time--but actually do make the time and watch it.

*sigh* if only it were easier to be a bird and see past the fences . . .

Again, not Female, but I'll forgive him if you do . . .

Yes, I am aware that I have capitalized "Female" (haha). In light of Brennan's comment, I felt it was appropriate.

It's been a while--I have moved and been very busy, as well as severely limiting my recreational internet use for Lent (I realize it's Easter season now--Christ is Risen Alleluia!). I am back and have internet in the new apartment now.

Maybe it's only the weather, but my life is (literally AND figuratively) opening up and turning green these days. It's a beautiful thing.

So, to match my mood, I have a Norwegian musicman to check out--Sondre Lerche (pron. Son-dray, Lurk-ay). He wrote most of the soundtrack for the movie Dan in Real Life (including a duet with Feist), and he's great.

I can't pick a favourite song, but "My Hands are Shaking," "Two-Way Monologue," and "Tragic Mirror" are contenders today.

The video for Phantom Punch is swell also :)

Jamie Lidell

Well, he's not female, but I don't want to limit myself to strictly posts about female singer/songwriters etc.
Fans of Feist or Jose Gonzalez will generally already know about this dude, since he collaborates with both of them a lot. I love this song.

and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this video!

And this one is pretty sweet as well.
I haven't been posting much lately. I gave up black tea for Lent, but I have also decided to be far less technological (tv, internet etc. etc.) in my daily routine.
But check it out: this, like everything else these days, makes me want to move to a bigger city.

Lent and photo blogs

I'm feeling the days getting longer, which is AWESOME, cause mornings are longer and brighter :)
Also, I am in need of a new project. Especially since I am giving up black tea for Lent, and I will need to distract myself, because I am convinced that I have a serious addiction. I might be getting really crazy here, but it's possible I will stop loving mornings so much with only green or herbal teas as my options. We shall see.

In other news, here are two cool (New York-related) photo blogs that I check about every second day.

For lovers of fashion and New York lifestyles, who haven't already heard about him, this is The Sartorialist. I love this one because he often posts the street, corner and/or area where each picture was taken. It really gives you a sense of the personalities of New York's neighborhoods (I'd love to find a similar blog about Brooklyn):

This one is "A Year in Pictures." It's really just about great photography and other related items:

Unwitting/disguised prayers

Are everywhere, really.
Exhibit A:
Breathe Me
(Sia)

Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
